CUSTOMs
Circa 2023, I had a thing for customising guitars. When I grew tired of seeing the basic looking guitar gathering dust in the corner of my room, I decided to transform it into a truly unique instrument and a work of art. At this point all I knew about guitars was that I couldn’t play. But, with a little research, and some good ol’ fashioned, hands-on ‘winging it’ I learnt how to take them apart and strip them down, Then, for the ‘easy’ bit, where I weave my arty magic, before I protect my painting by lacquering them up again, and putting them back together.
My first design was inspired by old botanical illustration plates, and was painted all in acrylics. The second, with the daisies and the bees, was a similar inspiration, but was also inspired by my mother.
The third was a mad, personal experiment, inspired by own journals and an urge to try out decoupage. I was intrigued to see if Mod Podge was a substitute for the traditional lacquer that I’d found tricky to apply for the others.
